What Is SABA?
Mission Statement The San Anselmo Baseball Association (SABA) is an independent, community-based, volunteer organization whose mission is to teach and foster the fundamentals of baseball, sportsmanship, the experience of teamwork, participation, and camaraderie. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere where the will to win shall always be secondary to the principles in our mission. Minors Minors is an introduction to competitive baseball but the emphasis is on instruction. Every player is in the batting lineup at all times, thus each player is given the opportunity to contribute to the team effort. Minimum playing requirements are strictly enforced and playing time equity should be favored over the competitive desire to win. While recognizing the boundaries of physical skills and the development of individuals, managers are strongly encouraged to teach a variety of positions to all players where feasible. Majors Majors is a continuation of the instruction of the fundamentals of baseball. Minimum playing requirements are the same as in minors and are to be strictly adhered. Playing time equity should be favorably balanced over competitive desires. As in minors, managers are strongly encouraged to teach and allow players to experience a variety of positions. Sportsmanship Instruction in SABA should include good sportsmanship: behavior according to principles of fairness, observance of the rules, respect for one's opponent, the coaches, umpires and fans, and graciousness in winning or losing. Managers and coaches are expected to be a positive role model in displaying proper sportsmanship and should take every opportunity to teach these values during the course of the season.
