MLL EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

In the event of an injury to a player or manager/coach requiring either emergency or non-emergency medical care you must follow the following procedures. See bottom of page for FIRST AID kit resupply contact info.

EMERGENCY:

An injury requiring emergency care should be, at that time, the sole focus of the individuals in charge of the injured person.

Ask for help from any qualified bystanders. (Nurse, Doctor, etc.)

Minimize the movement of the injured person until the exact nature of the injury is known.

Stabilize the injured person and perform whatever level of First Aid you are capable of performing safely.

If in doubt, DO NOT MOVE, the injured person.

CALL 911

An adult should be instructed to immediately call 9-1-1.
The caller must identify to 9-1-1 the general type of injury (cut, blunt trauma, bee sting allergic reaction, heat stroke, etc.) and the location of the injured person (Aquidneck Major, Aquidneck softball, etc.).

The caller or someone designated by the person in charge should go to the nearest driveway or entrance to the field and direct the emergency personnel to the injured persons location.

NOTIFICATION:

Once the injured person has received the proper medical attention and is no longer in the care of the manager/coach, contact either the Middletown Little League Safety Officer or any Board Member.

Contact numbers for:

Allen Gray  Safety Officer

401 629-1527(cell)

Russ Nelson MLL President

I
401-207-6448 (cell)

If a person is found to have sought non-emergency medical care for an injury occurring during an official practice or game, follow the same notification procedure as for an emergency.

FORMS:

A Little League Accident Notification Form (ANF) will need to be completed by the injured party (if an adult) or the childs parent(s) or guardian(s) as well as a Middletown Little League official promptly.

http://www.littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/asap/AccidentClaimForm.pdf

The league Safety Officer or other designated league official will see that the ANF is completed and distributed. The league Safety Officer will complete an A.S.A.P. Incident/Injury Tracking Report as well.

Most importantly, remain calm and use common sense when caring for an injured person.
Injuries can be avoided in many cases, but in the unfortunate event that an injury should occur, we are well prepared to handle the situation.

CLICK HERE TO CONTACT THE SAFETY OFFICER WITH QUESTIONS REGARDING MLL SAFETY ISSUES OR TO REPORT SUPPLIES NEEDED IN THE FIRST AID KITS AT EACH FIELD. BE SURE TO STATE WHAT IS NEEDED AND THE FIELD IT IS NEEDED AT.

Play Safe and Have Fun!
